Moisés Yagües

Rothko in Progress

(Murcia, 1972) lives and works in Murcia (Spain). He is a creator of a simple but imaginative work that seeks to tell stories.stories. He is currently working and exhibiting in galleries in different countries (Spain, Taiwan, South Korea,...). Yagües imagines the interior of the head and the human body as a place where stories take place, where ideas come to life and take on literal meaning. His caricatured characters, full of energy and and tenderness, are already provoking smiles in corners of the world after his exhibitions in Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, Sweden, China, the U.S. and Japan, Sweden, China, the United States and Japan, among others.

In Yagües' imaginary, references and winks to the history of art stand out.
history of art. This admiration for the masters of art is reflected in the
series of “Artists' Assistants”, where his recurring “assistants” appear “with rollers, ladders,   scaffolding, brushes and buckets of paint, take the viewer to the   and paint buckets, take   the viewer into a world where art merges with the act of its with   the act of its creation,   highlighting the effervescence and emotion in the creative process   of artists the creative   process of artists such as Miró, Picasso, Keith Haring,
 Rothko, Mondrian, Calder, among others.
Each character is immersed in their task and gives life to the collective   work. The scene   unfolds on the original work of a master, which becomes the backdrop for the true magic: the act of backdrop for the real magic: the act of painting.

His figuration of surrealistic situations and schematic characters
his work finds influences in comics, illustration, pop and urban art, among others. He   continues to paint in search of the freest creation and a completely personal universe and   of a completely personal universe, with a fresh and carefree style, an iconography style, a   well-established iconography and an eagerness to tell stories.
