The artist lives and works in Cologne.\u003cbr\u003e Matti Braun’s work investigates the unexpected, often little-known\u003cbr\u003e effects of cross-cultural dynamics, making visible patterns of artistic\u003cbr\u003e migrations and cultural misrecognitions. The artist’s exhibitions have\u003cbr\u003e often been organized around a specific example of such appropriation,\u003cbr\u003e taking, for instance, an elaborate web of interdisciplinary associations\u003cbr\u003e spun around the Indian physicist Vikran Sarabhai that include\u003cbr\u003e Mahatma Gandhi, Le Corbusier, the development of the Indian space\u003cbr\u003e program, the Ulm School of Design and Lynda Benglis as point of\u003cbr\u003e departure for displays that included textile works, objects, photographs\u003cbr\u003e and large-scale installations.
